New ‘Ant-Man’ Trailer Has Paul Rudd Mixing Action and Gags (Video)

The new Marvel film opens in theaters on July 17

Disney released a new trailer for Marvel’s “Ant-Man” starring Paul Rudd on Monday.

In the film, Rudd plays convicted con man Scott Lang, who is given a second chance by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Pym recruits Lang to help stop the evil Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) from using the Ant-Man suit, which allows the wearer to shrink in size but increase in strength.

The trailer sees Rudd, who co-wrote the script with Adam McKay, exercising his comedy chops. For example, when Lang tries to reassure Pym that he’s done “breaking into places and stealing stuff,” Pym then says, “I want you to break into a place and steal some stuff.” Lang deadpans, “Makes sense.” Of course, the trailer saves its funniest moment for the end.

We also get an extended look at Cross as his supervillain alter ego Yellowjacket. He and Ant-Man may be small, but their battle seems just as epic as any full-sized hero’s would be.

“Ant-Man” opens in theaters on July 17.
