“Clown comes back to life with N.H. win as mindless zombies turn out in droves,” the paper prints on cover
The cover of Wednesday’s New York Daily News took aim at the “mindless” New Hampshire voters on who gave Donald Trump a victory in the state’s Republican primary.
“Dawn of the Brain Dead,” the headline read, along with a picture of the GOP candidate in clown makeup.
“Clown comes back to life with N.H. win as mindless zombies turn out in droves,” the cover continued.
The publication’s latest dig at the billionaire politician comes hours after the Huffington Post reacted to Trump’s victory with a “WTF GOP” headline.
A week earlier, the N.Y. Daily News labeled Trump a “Dead Clown Walking” when he failed to win the Iowa caucus. But it spoke too soon, as Trump dominated New Hampshire by receiving 35 percent of the vote.
Trump ripped the “totally failing paper” and its “zealous” owner when asked for a response to the cover on “Fox & Friends” this morning.
“Look, it’s another paper that’s going down the tubes. They used my name. They do the clown thing. Every week, I’m on with a clown picture,” Trump said on the morning show. “Maybe it sells, maybe it doesn’t sell.”
“The owner is a guy named Mort Zuckerman, who’s got a total inferiority complex, and he has for years,” Trump added. “He’s jealous as hell.”
