‘Orange Is the New Black’ Star Adrienne C. Moore Says She Was ‘Taken Aback’ By Shocking Season 4 Death (Exclusive Video)

“The last time I filmed a scene with Sam, we all went into one of the dressing room and gave her a wonderful gift,” actress tells TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell

“Orange Is the New Black” shocked everyone with a tragic death in Season 4, and that even includes some of the show’s stars.

“The writers didn’t tell me, Samira [Wiley] didn’t tell me, so I was definitely taken aback,” Adrienne C. Moore, who stars as Black Cindy on the Netflix prison drama, told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell. “And then I remember [reading] the final episode, and it was her backstory and you got to see a lot more about her … Those kind of moments are some of my favorites.”

Wiley’s character, Poussey, was killed off when her characters was inadvertently crushed to death by a poorly trained guard attempting to shut down a prisoner protest.

“I remember the last time I filmed a scene with Sam,” Moore said. “We all went into one of the dressing room and gave her a wonderful gift. That whole moment was very special to me.”

Moore also discussed the future direction of her own character, saying she’d like to learn more about Black Cindy’s backstory.

“I’m still wanting to know about Black Cindy,” she said. “She’s this funny sort of humorous, quick-witted person … Does she use humor to mask a lot of what that pain is?”

“When we were filming Black Cindy’s progression into becoming Jewish, one of my old [babysitting] clients, her eldest daughter turned 13 and had her bat mitzvah,” Moore recalled. “And I remember thinking ‘Hm, this would be really intersting research’ … and it was the most boring thing I’ve ever been to.
