Pat Fili-Krushel to Leave NBCUniversal Six Months After Andrew Lack’s Return

Former executive departed post as head of NBC News in March

Pat Fili-Krushel is leaving NBCUniversal, six months after being replaced as the head of NBC News by Andy Lack, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap Wednesday.

Lack, who was NBC News President from 1993-2001, replaced Fili-Krushel in April. She had assumed the role of Chairman, NBC News and MSNBC, in 2012.

After Lack took over, Fili-Krushel transitioned out of NBC News but remained in an undisclosed role at NBCUniversal. However, no permanent role could be found which suited the company and the exec and she is finalizing a deal with NBC Universal CEO Steve Burke to leave the company.

“We couldn’t come up with a position that made sense for what I’m interested in doing, so we said maybe it’s time we part ways,” Fili-Krushel told New York Magazine after the news broke. “I feel really good about what we accomplished.”

During her short tenure, Fili-Krushel oversaw all of NBC News’ properties, including MSNBC and CNBC and the company’s signature shows including “Meet the Press” and “The Today Show.”

“It was a mad five years. I just feel like I need some time,” Fili-Krushel said.
