For Rebel Wilson, size matters.

The “Pitch Perfect” star said that a major reason her comedy career has flourished has been because of the extra weight she carries. She first noticed a difference in audience reactions when she starred opposite a bigger actress in a play.

“I was like: ‘Oh. That girl’s getting a lot of laughs, a lot easier than me. What is it?’ Because I don’t think there’s much difference in talent,” Wilson told The Telegraph. “And I remember distinctly thinking: ‘I think it’s because she’s fatter’. And then, I don’t know if it was mega-conscious, but I thought: ‘How can I get more laughs? Maybe if I was a bit fatter…’ And then suddenly I was fatter, and doing comedy.”

“I saw my size as being an advantage,” she continued. “Whereas so many women see it as a disadvantage.”

Wilson has definitely used her size to her advantage. She received major praise for her role as “Fat Amy” in the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, and is set to reprise that role in the upcoming third installment.

She also turned in memorable performances as a weird roommate in “Bridesmaids” and as a nun-chuck-wielding nurse in Michael Bay‘s “Pain & Gain.”
