‘Rizzoli and Isles’ Star Sasha Alexander Talks ‘Emotional’ Series Finale (Video)

“It’s kind of a mixed bag of emotions,” the actress tells TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell in a new episode of “Drinking With the Stars”

After seven seasons on the air, “Rizzoli and Isles” will come to an end on Monday with a series finale that star Sasha Alexander says will be “emotional yet hopeful.”

“Seven years is a long time, so it’s kind of a mixed bag of emotions,” Alexander, who co-stars on the series with Angie Harmon, told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell in the latest “Drinking With the Stars.” “I’m so proud of the work we did for so many years, but then on the other hand I’m ready to move on.”

“The finale is going to be sad,” promised Alexander, who has played Maura Isles, the brilliant medical examiner partnered with Harmon’s character, the Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli. “It’s going to be emotional yet hopeful. And positive in many ways, because all the families and the friendships sort of come to a nice little end.”

Asked if she’s kept any mementos from the set, Alexander revealed that in addition to some clothes and a tea set, she decided to keep a photo from Maura’s office of women in the early 1900s performing an autopsy.

“Something left an impression with me the first time I saw it in that office, and it’s been there for years,” she said. “And when I was leaving, I just felt like that embodied the character to me.”

“I’m not going to keep it in children’s room, but I’ll find a place,” she joked.
