Rob Lowe to Star in NBC Dad Comedy From ‘Frasier’ Writers

“Parks and Recreation” actor teams with comedy writers Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory

Rob Lowe is back at NBC with a comedy project from “Frasier” writers Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory, an NBC spokesperson told TheWrap.

He will star in the project as an impulsive and self-centered alcoholic who cleans up his act and decides to become a model father when his kids are already teenagers. But, making amends with is ex-wife and kids isn’t going be easy.

Lowe had formerly teamed with the writing duo behind “Frasier” and “The Larry Sanders Show” for the NBC pilot “The Pro” last year, but it was ultimately not picked up by the network.

The actor is coming off a few seasons of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” He has also starred on ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” Showtime’s “Californication” and NBC’s “The West Wing.”

From ABC Studios, Huyck, Gregory and Lowe will serve as executive producers on the project, alongside Marc Gurvitz at Brillstein Entertainment.

WME and Brillstein Entertainment represent Lowe.
