Russell Brand Calls Fox News ‘a Distraction’ From the Real Problem: ‘People Like Rupert Murdoch’ (Video)

Brand continues his war of words with Fox News during an appearance on “The View”

Russell Brand is no stranger to hurling insults at Fox News, and continued to do so during an appearance on “The View” on Monday.

The actor and comedian was expressing his discontent with money hungry political parties — both in America and the United Kingdom — when co-host Rosie O’Donnell asked about his well-documented “frustration with the news,” which led to a web series called “The Trews.”

“It’s true news, news that you can trust, where we report on how the news should be told,” Brand said. “When on Fox News they’re telling you to condemn Mexican people, or immigrants, or people of different sexual identity, that’s to distract you from the people that really have the power, people like Rupert Murdoch that owns Fox News.”

That’s actually one of the nicer things Brand has said about TV’s leading cable news network, considering he once called it “a fanatical terrorist propagandist organization.

Brand has clashed with MSNBC anchors in the past, too, and made it clear on “The View” that he’s frustrated with the state of the media, in general.

“It’s almost like the media feeds us narratives where we oppress immigrants, people that are vulnerable, people with disabilities, people that are different colors from the majority of the population — these people are constantly blamed for social problems,” Brand said. “I’m a recovering drug addict, we are constantly criminalized, persecuted and imprisoned. In a way, it’s like people are always looking for scapegoats, people to condemn and blame. If you’re looking for where to get more money to create a better society, look at the people who have got all the money. That’s where the problem is.”
