‘Sex Box’ Greenlit by WE TV to Feature…Couples Having Sex in a Box

U.K. adaptation reality show is set for an early 2015 US premiere

WE TV is probably entering negotiations to use Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake‘s “Dick in a Box” as a pitch-perfect theme song, as the cable channel has greenlit controversial UK adaptation “Sex Box” for an early 2015 U.S. premiere.

“Sex Box” is a reality show where couples discuss their relationship issues with a panel of experts before heading to a camera-free, soundproof box on the show’s set to have sex. They emerge to immediately discuss their experiences in the sex box, as the cameras roll before a studio audience, who will likely be horrified.

The first season will feature nine, one-hour episodes. Or some might last just two minutes. That’s a sex joke — they’ll all be an hour.

The “Sex Box” panel includes Dr. Fran Walfish, a Beverly Hills relationship psychotherapist and author. She’s appeared on “The Doctors,” “NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams,” ABC News, CNN and Fox News Channel.

It also boasts Dr. Chris Donaghue, PhD, a licensed clinical therapist, nationally certified sex therapist, and doctor of clinical sexology and human sexuality. He’s appeared on Logo TV’s “Bad Sex,” and has been featured in Newsweek, while also seen on CNN, OWN, National Geographic and Dr. Drew’s “Lifechangers.”

The third panelist is Pastor Dr. Yvonne Capehart, PhD, the founder of “Healed for Real” healing and deliverance conference and Sister Keeper International Ministries Crusade, a network for women in ministry.

In addition to the panelists, “Sex Box” features comedian Danielle Stewart, who interviews each couple before they enter the sex box.

“‘Sex Box’ is one of the most unique and compelling show concepts we’ve ever seen, and we can’t wait to bring it to WE TV,” said Marc Juris, WE TV’s president. “Our featured couples will get a once-in-a-lifetime experience, while our viewers will get the kind of bold, break-through-the-clutter programming they increasingly associate with WE tv.”

“Sex Box” is executive produced by Relativity Television’s Tom Forman and Brad Bishop. The executive producers for WE TV are Juris and Lauren Gellert, senior vice president of original production and development.
