See Peter Parker Swing Into Action in First ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer (Video)

“Homecoming” starring Tom Holland hits theaters on July 7

Sony has dropped the first trailer for “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker on Thursday night.

In the teaser that aired during “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” we see Parker testing out his newly-learned skills after his epic fight with the Avengers in “Captain America: Civil War.” Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is in the trailer, as well as other Avengers — but unfortunately, they are the fake kind that attempt to rob banks.

Spidey tries to go back to his daily routine after “Civil War,” but is distracted by thoughts of wanting to prove himself. That’s when the film’s villain, Vulture (Michael Keaton) appears, and his life and the people in it are threatened.

Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon and Marisa Tomei also star in the film, directed by Jon Watts.

Earlier on Thursday, Sony released the first official image from “Spider-Man: Homecoming” after Holland has shared various set photos in the past.

“Homecoming” will skip the backstory of how Parker gets his powers, a story that was highlighted in the previous “Spider-Man” incarnations.

“This is really a movie where Spider-Man’s not the finished article,” Holland told USA Today. “He really does learn and he makes massive mistakes. It’s nice to see a kid do that and then try to rectify those mistakes.”

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” hits theaters on July 7.
