Steve Carell’s Gru Is Back in First ‘Despicable Me 3’ Trailer (Video)

Movie also features voices of Kristen Wiig and Trey Parker, and hits theaters June 30, 2017

Steve Carell’s Gru is back in the first official trailer for “Despicable Me 3.”

The trailer features Michael Jackson’s “Bad” as Gru is up to the usual shenanigans with his minions. However, this trailer focuses more on Gru and his mulleted archnemesis, a former child star who challenges him to a dance fight.

Illumination’s CEO Chris Meledandri recently announced that Carrell will also pull double duty in the new film, voicing a new character — Gru’s long lost identical twin, Dru, his exact lookalike save for a luxurious head of blond hair.

“Despicable Me 3” also features the voices of Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove and Dana Gaier. The previous “Despicable Me” films, including “Minions,” grossed almost $1 billion at the domestic box office and have become a critical and commercial success.

Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda return as directors with co-director by Eric Guillon. The script is by Cinco Paul & Ken Dauri. Meledandri and Janet Healy are producers with Chris Renaud as executive producer.

“Despicable Me 3” hits theaters on June 30, 2017.
