‘Straight Outta Compton’ Actor Jason Mitchell in Talks for ‘Kong: Skull Island’

Big screen Easy-E joins costars Corey Hawkins, Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston in sequel

“Straight Outta Compton” star Jason Mitchell may be booking a trip to “Kong: Skull Island.”

The actor is in negotiations to join an ensemble that includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and his “Compton” costar Corey Hawkins for the action sequel, an individual with knowledge of the talks told TheWrap Tuesday.

In F. Gary Gray’s box office hit, Mitchell played N.W.A rapper Easy-E. Details of his character in “Kong” are unknown.

In late July, TheWrap reported that Russell Crowe was flirting with joining the cast, pending an updated script.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. Legendary had aimed to start production in the fall but cameras may not start rolling until early next year. The film is slate for release by Universal on March 10, 2017.
