Telemundo Reporter Brutally Punched During Live Shot in Philly (Video)

Iris Delgado gets slugged on live TV

TV reporter Iris Delgado was attacked on live television while reporting for Telemundo in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Delgado was wrapping up a report about a soda tax in front of City Hall when a woman approached her on-camera. “Excuse me, excuse me,” the woman can be heard saying in the video, before striking Delgado twice in the head.

The shot cut back to anchor Ramon Zayas in time to capture his shocked reaction as he exclaimed, “Ay, Dios mio.”

According to the Associated Press, the woman has been identified by the police as 37-year-old Waheedah Wilson. Delgado’s crew pushed Wilson away after the attack and followed her until she was arrested.

Records show that Wilson has been charged with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

An internal memo from Anzio Williams, Vice President of News for NBC10 and Telemundo62, praised the team for handling the situation appropriately and offered safety training for the staff ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next month.

A station spokesperson told TheWrap on Thursday that Delgado “is ok and is understandably taking some time off to recover. We look forward to her return.”
