Tom Petty’s daughter AnnaKim Violette slammed Rolling Stone on Instagram for misreporting her father’s death on Monday.

“How dare you report that my father has died just to get press because your articles and photos are so dated,” Petty’s daughter wrote in a post accompanied by a photo of her father on the magazine’s cover. “I will f—ing s— down your throat and your family’s. Try not being a trump vibe. This is my father not a celebrity. An artist and human being. F— u.”

Rolling Stone, like a number of other media outlets including TheWrap, incorrectly reported that Petty died on Monday after being hospitalized Sunday night, due to an LAPD miscommunication. The news was first reported by TMZ, then confirmed by CBS, who attributed it to the Los Angeles Police Department in a tweet. Other outlets then ran the news, citing CBS’s erroneous reporting.

LAPD later announced that news of Petty’s passing had been “inadvertently” given to the media, and clarified that it had “no information” about Petty’s status.

“The LAPD has no information about the passing of singer Tom Petty,” the department tweeted, apologizing. “Initial information was inadvertently provided to some media sources.”
