Melissa Carter will write and executive produce "Deliverance Creek"
Lifetime has greenlit a two-hour backdoor pilot from author Nicholas Sparks' production company, a network representative told TheWrap.
"Deliverance Creek" is set at the end of the Civil War. It follows Belle Barlowe, who "faces uncertainty in the life before her as she attempts to defend her family’s land by any means necessary," the network said. "When the corrupt bank that runs their town pushes Belle into becoming an outlaw, the stakes become personal, setting off a chain of events that force her to question whether it's better to be good or to survive."
This is the first pilot order for Nicholas Sparks Productions — a joint venture between him and creative partner Theresa Park — in association with Warner Horizon Television. Sparks and Park will executive produce along with Melissa Carter, who's also writing, and Elise Henderson.
Previously, Lifetime ordered David Star's "HR" starring Alicia Silverstone and dating drama "Unreal."
