Bob Okun starting new firm with Comcast, NBCUniversal as first clients
Bob Okun, the longtime head of NBCUniversal's Washington, D.C., government affairs office, is the latest to leave the company since its acquisition by Comcast.
Okun announced Friday that he will leave to establish his own government relations firm, The "O" Team, starting in July. He said Comcast and NBCUniversal would be hist first clients. Okun will continue to advise the NBCUniversal government relations office through the end of June.
"It has been such a privilege to represent 'the best in class' NBCUniversal for the past 16 years and to work side by side with the tremendous Comcast team for the past year and a half to complete the joint venture with GE," he said in a statement released by Comcast. "Now that we are becoming an integrated, new company, I am excited to fulfill my professional dream after 30 years in Washington to start a firm which will bring together politics, policy, and business."
Kyle McSlarrow, president of Comcast/NBCUniversal for Washington, D.C., and head of government affairs for the companies, added, “Bob and I have been friends and colleagues for almost two decades, and I look forward to our continuing relationship as Bob begins this exciting new phase of his career.”
The search is underway for a new head of NBCUniversal's Washington, D.C. office.
