Damon Herriman has signed on for “Battle Creek,” the upcoming CBS drama series from “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan and “House M.D.” creator David Shore.

Herriman, known to fans of FX’s “Justified” for his portrayal of Dewey Crowe, has been cast in a recurring role as Detective Niblet, a nice guy and officer on the Battle Creek Police Department who looks up to Detective Funkhauser (“House” alum Kal Penn) and embraces his style.

The series centers on two detectives with very different world views. When they are forced to team up, they must answer the question: is cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Michigan in the face of a complete lack of resources; or is the exact opposite true — it takes naïveté, trust and a boatload of resources?

Gilligan and Shore are writing and executive producing, with Shore serving as showrunner.
