‘Walking Dead’ Vet Laurie Holden Joins ‘Chicago Fire’ Spinoff ‘Chicago Med’

Potential offshoot will get a trial run on Dick Wolf NBC drama

“Chicago Med” has just gained another resident.

Laurie Holden, who played The Governor’s love interest Andrea on the AMC zombie drama “The Walking Dead,” has signed on for the potential “Chicago Fire” spinoff “Chicago Med,” an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap on Friday.

Holden, who most recently appeared on TNT’s “Major Crimes,” has been cast in the role of surgeon Hannah Tramble.

The actress joins a cast that includes “Whitney” star Yaya DaCosta, who’ll play a nurse named Maggie Seaver. “Law & Order” alum S. Epatha Merkerson is also closing in on a deal to join the potential spinoff.

“Chicago Med” will get a trial run on the 19th episode of “Chicago Fire’s” third season, when new characters are introduced.
