‘What’s the Deal?’ With Steven Spielberg’s Shift From DreamWorks to Warner Bros. (Video)

TheWrap’s film reporter Jeff Sneider explores what the director’s “Ready Player One” deal means for the future of DreamWorks

Sneider thinks Oscar winner Steven Spielberg is the perfect choice to direct Ernie Cline‘s ode to ’80s pop culture because he understands gaming and is capable of bringing the author’s ambitious story to life.

To do that, he’ll be working with state-of-the-art technology created by Magic Leap, which you can get a taste of in the accompanying videos below.

Spielberg’s involvement in “Ready Player One” represents a serious time commitment that begs the question of what will happen to DreamWorks while he’s working on the Warner Bros. lot.

Let us know in the comments section what you think of the book and Spielberg’s attachment to the movie adaptation, and if you would’ve preferred a different filmmaker.
