"X-Men: Days of Future Past"

Kickstarted feature “Veronica Mars,” which barely made a dent at the box office when released in theaters, is competing against some of the biggest blockbusters of the year

MTV is pitting fandom against fandom by nominating 32 titles spread across four categories for the mtvU “Fandom of the Year” award.

Massive box office hits including “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” are facing the dedicated fans of romantic cancer drama “The Fault in Our Stars” and the Kickstarted “Veronica Mars” movie.

In the TV category, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” is finally getting some awards love, but has to face “Community,” “Glee” and former CBS ratings juggernaut “How I Met Your Mother.”

MTV’s own drama “Teen Wolf” will take on Emmy-winning AMC drama “Breaking Bad,” as well as HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “Doctor Who.”

The 60-minute ceremony will be taped at San Diego’s Petco Park during Comic-Con on July 24, and will air on mtvU on July 27.
