“How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is getting a sequel.

According to media reports, Paramount is in the early stages of development on a follow-up to the 2003 hit, which starred Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Hudson is involved as a producer on the sequel and it’s unclear whether she or McConaughey will appear in the new film. The creative team for the follow-up has not been established yet either.

Stacey Sher will also produce alongside Hudson through her Shiny Penny banner.

The original film, based on the picture book of the same name by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long, starred Hudson as a magazine writer and McConaughey as an ad executive, who get into a relationship but – wouldn’t you know it? – they are not in the relationship for the most altruistic reasons.

The movie, directed by Donald Petrie from a screenplay by Kristen Buckley, Brian Regan and Burr Steers, made $177.5 million on a budget of just $50 million, and had a long life on home video and other ancillary platforms.

Adam Goldberg, Bebe Neuwirth, Shalom Harlow, Michael Michele, Kathryn Hahn, Robert Klein, Thomas Lennon, Celia Watson and Tony Longo also starred in the original film.
