‘The Morning Show,’ ‘Succession’ Lead Critics Choice Awards TV Nominations

“Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Beef,” “Lessons in Chemistry” and “A Small Light” also receive multiple nominations

“The Morning Show” and “Succession” led all programs in television nominations for the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards, which were announced on Tuesday morning.

“The Morning Show” received six nominations, including Best Drama Series plus acting noms for Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Nicole Beharie and Karen Pittman. “Succession” received five, Best Drama Series plus nods for actors Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfayden.

Seven different programs – “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Beef,” “Lessons in Chemistry,” “Loki,” “Reservation Dogs” and “A Small Light” – received four nominations in the 20 categories, which only consist of program and acting categories.

In addition to “The Morning Show,” “Succession” and “Loki,” the Best Drama Series category consisted of “The Crown,” “The Diplomat,” “The Last of Us,” “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” and “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.” Best Comedy Series nominees were “Abbott Elementary,” “Barry,” “The Bear,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Poker Face,” “Reservation Dogs,” “Shrinking” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”

HBO / Max led all companies with 23 nominations, followed by Netflix with 21 and Apple TV+ and FX with 16.

Nominations in the Critics Choice film categories will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 13

The Critics Choice Awards will take place on Sunday, Jan. 14 at a ceremony hosted by Chelsea Handler and broadcast on The CW.
