Daniel Radcliffe joined the cast of NBC’s untitled Tracy Morgan comedy pilot from “30 Rock” creator Tina Fey and writers Robert Carlock and Sam Means.
Carlock and Means wrote the pilot, which stars “30 Rock” alum Morgan as a disgraced former football play who sets out on a mission to rehabilitate his public image. Radcliffe will star opposite Morgan as Arthur Tobin, an award-winning filmmaker who moves into the mansion owned by Morgan’s former pro athlete intent on filming a documentary about the once-great running back.
Fey, Carlock, Means, Eric Gurian and David Miner are set to executive produce the untitled comedy, which is being produced by Universal Television, a division of the Universal Studio Group. Rhys Thomas (“Hawkeye,” “Documentary Now!”) is attached to direct and executive produce its pilot.
Last summer, Radcliffe took home a Tony Award for his performance in the acclaimed Broadway revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical “Merrily We Roll Along.” He is best known for his decade-spanning performance as the titular Boy-Who-Lived in Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Harry Potter” films. In the years since that film franchise ended, Radcliffe has aggressively diversified his filmography.
In addition to starring in offbeat indie productions like “Swiss Army Man” and “Guns Akimbo,” Radcliffe has given scene-stealing supporting turns in studio films like “The Lost City” and “Now You See Me 2.” He is no stranger to the TV comedy space, either, having had a starring role in all four seasons of Simon Rich’s TBS series “Miracle Workers.”
Radcliffe also has history with Fey, Carlock and Means. He starred in 2020’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend,” the interactive film sequel to Fey and Carlock’s beloved Netflix series. The sequel was co-written by Fey, Carlock, Meredith Scardino and Means.
For his part, Morgan will next be seen in the Paramount+ half-hour comedy “Crutch,” which is set to premiere sometime this year. Should both “Crutch” and this untitled, developing NBC project turn out to be successful, he will be able to star in both at the same time.
