Dionne Warwick Offers to ‘Pay the Cost of Postage’ for Return of Taylor Swift’s Scarf

The singer tweeted her thoughts on the mysterious accessory that Swift sings about in “All Too Well”

Dionne Warwick weighed in on the scarf conversation from Taylor Swift’s ballad “All Too Well” in which she sings about leaving her scarf at the house of her then-boyfriend’s sister.

The 80-year-old musician tweeted, “If that young man has Taylor’s scarf he should return it,” the 80-year-old music legend tweeted. “It does not belong to you. Box it up and I will pay the cost of postage, Jake.”

In the opening lyric of the song, Swift sings “I walked through the door with you, the air was cold. But something about it felt like home somehow. And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house. And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now.” 

Swift also released a short film set to her vault version of “All Too Well,” which extends the heartbreak anthem from five minutes to ten. Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink star in the film alongside the singer, supposedly portraying what took place between Jake Gyllenhaal (O’Brien) and Swif (Sadie Sink and then Swift herself), and a red scarf frames the video by making appearances at the beginning and in the final shot.

“All Too Well” is rumored to draw inspiration from Swift’s relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, which lasted three months in 2010. The singer re-recorded her five-minute version of the song for her re-release of the “Red” album.

Neither Swift nor Gyllenhaal have officially confirmed the whereabouts of the scarf, or that the accessory even traded ownership between them, but Jake’s sister Maggie Gyllenhaal was asked about it by Andy Cohen in 2017.

“I never understood why everybody asked me about this scarf. What is this?” Gyllenhaal told Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.”

When Cohen pushed her further, Gyllenhaal said “I am in the dark about the scarf.”

“Red (Taylor’s Version)” follows “Fearless” in the songstress’s move to redo her first five albums so that she can take complete ownership of them, after Scooter Braun bought her masters along with her first recording partner Big Machine Records.

After Big Machine sold to Braun’s private equity group Ithaca Holdings, Braun then sold Swift’s masters to another company, Shamrock Holdings, for a reported $300 million in 2019.
