‘Gotham’s’ Ben McKenzie Shows Ellen DeGeneres His Battle Scars From Accident During Shooting (Video)

The star of the new Fox series was injured on set during a fight scene

It’s been a rough week for actor Ben McKenzie.

The “Gotham” star sat down for an interview with Ellen DeGeneres during which he gave her an up-close examination of the deep cut he sustained last Friday while shooting a scene for the new Fox series.

“I was doing a fight scene and I had to pick up a guy and slam him back into a concrete wall,” McKenzie said. “I did it correctly the first time and the second time I decided to slam my own head into a concrete wall.”

The accident happen to occur on McKenzie’s 36th birthday. He was taken to the hospital and received several stitches to close the wound.

“It didn’t hurt that much,” McKenzie said. “A couple of Advil and I’m totally fine.”

His bad luck streak wasn’t over though. McKenzie told DeGeneres that he was in a car accident on his way to do her show.

“She pulled out in front of me,” McKenzie said. “She was taking an unprotected left and I slammed on the brakes. We’re fine.”

The woman he hit had no idea who he was, according to McKenzie.

In order to help McKenzie prevent further injury, DeGeneres presented him with a Batman bike helmet, which he tried on for her proudly.
