Jon Stewart Mocks ‘Balcony Boy’ Congressman Michael Grimm, and His Health Food Joint (Video)

Threatening a reporter, with a side of kale

Jon Stewart is disappointed in the state of once-flagrant Northeastern corruption.

“The Daily Show” host says the Northeast does corruption like no other part of the country. So he was initially thrilled to learn that Republican U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm, a Staten Island Republican, is accused of shady dealings. Grimm, after all, is the tough-talking congressman who recently threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony and break him in half.

Federal prosecutors accuse Grimm of fraud, hiring undocumented workers, causing false tax returns to be filed, and perjury, among other charges.

Sounds like the makings of a classic Northeastern scam, Stewart thought. Until he learned that the allegations revolve around a health food restaurant.

“Is this what Northeastern corruption has come to? Closing bridge lanes and skimming a little off the top of a broccoli and lentil joint?” Stewart asked Wednesday.

Then he acted out a short scene from the finger-puppet classic, “Glutenfellas.”

Stewart noted that Grimm has aggressively denied the allegations.

“He may be cared of high cholesterol, but he is not scared of the law,” Stewart said.
