Christina Hendricks has been cast in the upcoming Comedy Central show “Another Period,” an individual with knowledge of the project has told TheWrap.

The Emmy-nominated “Mad Men” star will play a character named Chair on the network’s turn of the century comedy, which follows the uppity Bellacourt family of Rhode Island. Her mysterious character will get her own arc during the 10-episode series, which Comemdy Central ordered into production in June.

It’s the first major gig Hendricks has attached herself to since wrapping on a very different period series, AMC’s Emmy winning drama “Mad Men.” Hendricks played Joan Holloway Harris on all 7 seasons of the critically acclaimed show and earned an Emmy nomination five straight times, though she has yet to win.

ICM, Link Entertainment and 42West represent Hendricks.
