No, McTerrier Really Couldn’t See in That ‘Masked Singer’ Costume

Season 7 of “The Masked Singer” kicked off on Wednesday night with a showdown between “The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly.” By the end of the night, McTerrier (who was part of “Team Good”) was cut from the lineup — but not before he was revealed to be Duff Goldman, owner of Charm City Cakes and a Food Network star.

While he was the first to exit the competition series, Goldman said he was happy to join in on the fun — and he totally understood why judges Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger sent him home.

“I think they were just like, ‘All right, this guy is not a good singer and he’s not very coordinated, so we gotta get him out of here,’” Goldman joked in an interview with TheWrap. “I wasn’t trying to get a record deal for my new singing career.”

Goldman may only have had one chance to perform on “The Masked Singer” stage, but he still managed to make it a memorable one.

From the moment McTerrier took the stage, host Nick Cannon pondered whether he could see through his costume. Cannon’s suspicions were confirmed when Goldman nearly took a spill onstage following his performance of “Working for the Weekend” by Loverboy.

He remained upright, but the accident caused him to knock his mask off, nearly revealing his identity. Luckily, Goldman was able to move quickly to hide his face from the judges and the audience.

“So, you can’t really see, at least in the McTerrier costume,” he said. “I think at one point, I ran into one of the dancers. But, I got just way too close to the edge of the stage. I felt my foot go over the edge and that really terrified me. So I kind of jumped back and that’s when my head fell off.”

He added: “Nobody saw me! When I felt myself going, I covered my face with my arms right away and then turned around and kind of got into a little ball. Then the producers came out and threw a blanket over me. I don’t know how they got me out of there.”

Despite the unintentional unmasking, none of the judges correctly guessed McTerrier’s identity. Among the guesses were Mike Myers, Flea, and Ewan McGregor.

“The Masked Singer” airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
