Nick Offerman Saves a Marriage in Home Depot Spoof on John Oliver’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ (Video)

“Parks and Recreation” actor plays a helpful salesman able to solve any problem a couple might have

Lowe’s recently announced that some of their stores will soon feature robotic shopping assistants. John Oliver thinks that is a terrible idea, and invited Nick Offerman to help explain why.

The HBO host argued on his show “Last Week Tonight” Sunday that without human sales associates, husbands and wives everywhere maybe in big trouble.

“Sales associates at home improvement stores are not there to help people buy things, they’re there to stop couples from tearing each other apart,” Oliver explained.

He went on to say they are “a lethal combination of everything that can ruin a relationship: spending money, reconciling tastes, long-term planning, and fluorescent lighting.”

With Lowe’s switching to robots, Oliver showed competitor Home Depot how to seize this moment with a fake ad featuring “Parks and Recreation” actor Offerman donning an orange apron and helping a couple pick out home improvement items.

Arguments over a copper sink and wood flooring are cooled by Offerman before the couple (played by Sarah Baker and H. Jon Benjamin) say something to each other that they won’t be able to take back.

If anyone can save the day, it’s Offerman and his impressive mustache.
