Sir Patrick Stewart has confirmed that he will appear in “Wolverine 3,” Hugh Jackman‘s third and final standalone film for the clawed X-Men character.

“Worst kept secret. ‪#‎ProfessorX‬ ‪#‎Wolverine3‬,” Stewart wrote on Facebook Saturday, as well as on Twitter.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” producer Hutch Parker also confirmed Stewart’s appearance in the upcoming film about Logan, as well as his own involvement.

“I am [involved in ‘Wolverine 3’], in fact I’m on loan from them right now,” he told Collider. “I will confirm that Patrick Stewart is part of the film.”

This is not the first time Stewart has affirmed his role. Last August, the actor confirmed suspicions that he will be appearing in the next “Wolverine” movie, which Jackman has said will be his final outing as the iconic Marvel character.

“I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me,” Stewart told Collider during an interview while promoting his new Starz show “Blunt Talk.”

Last week, “X-Men” producer Simon Kinberg also said that Professor X will appear in the upcoming spinoff “The New Mutants.”

“Right now, as the movie exists, Professor X would be a part of a ‘New Mutants’ movie,” Kingberg told

Jackman and Stewart both starred in the first “X-Men” film in 2000. They have appeared in most of the films in the franchise since, and most recently shared the screen in 2014’s “Days of Future Past.” James McAvoy took over the role of Professor X in “X-Men: First Class,” however, and will play the part again in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” opening May 27.

“Wolverine 3,” which will be R-rated, is looking at a March 2017 release.
