Stephen Colbert Whittles Weapon Out of a Cross in Defense of Columbus Day (Video)

Seattle school board has changed holiday to “Indigenous Peoples Day,” which doesn’t suit the Christian Comedy Central character very well

Colbert Report

Stephen Colbert is furious about the Seattle school board decision to celebrate “Indigenous Peoples Day” instead of Columbus Day, with the host claiming on Thursday that the “white, Christian establishment is under attack again.”

Anyone who watches Colbert knows that is something that the faux-conservative host will not stand for. And non-regular viewers got the hint when Colbert whittled himself a “personal defense cross,” which is merely a crucifix with a sharp end.

“They didn’t discover America,” Colbert said of the indigenous folks that Seattle plans to honor. “And it was right under their feet the whole time. How lazy do you have to be to look down?”

While Seattle maintains that the decision is an attempt to fight racism, a Fox News talking head called it “a slap” to Christopher Columbus, a sentiment that Colbert naturally agreed with.

“As an American patriot, I identify with an Italian explorer employed by Spain,” the “Colbert Report” host explained.

Colbert went on to call Columbus: “The good kind of Hispanic immigrant.”
