‘The Departed’ TV Series Adaptation in Development at Amazon

This time, young cop character made famous by Leonardo DiCaprio will infiltrate a Latino gang in Chicago

Warner Bros. is developing a television series adaptation of film “The Departed” for Amazon, TheWrap has learned.

The one-hour drama follows a young cop that goes undercover to infiltrate a ruthless Latino gang, which simultaneously plants its own man in the police department. Set in present-day Chicago amid the shifting tides of warring ethnic drug gangs, the gritty, suspenseful drama follows the two embattled moles as they attempt to fulfill their mission and stay alive.

The TV version will be written and executive produced by Jason Richman. Also executive producing are Roy Lee, Michael Connolly, Graham King, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Sarah Esberg, Tripp Vinson, Doug Davison, and Gianni Nunnari.

This “Departed” hails from Amazon Studios, Vertigo Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group and Plan B Entertainment.

The 2006 film, which also starred Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg, was set in Boston and centered on an Irish gang. It was a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong movie “Infernal Affairs.”
