Kristen Bell, Ben Platt and Allison Janney End Up in Jail Together in First Trailer for ‘The People We Hate at the Wedding’ (Video)

And no, they won’t be getting bailed out

At every wedding, there are those guests that wreak some kind of havoc. In “The People We Hate at the Wedding,” those guests are Kristen Bell, Ben Platt and Allison Janney — and they know it.

In the first trailer for Prime Video’s upcoming movie, based on the book of the same name, the trio is a family jetting off to England to celebrate the wedding of Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson). Of course, for her siblings Alice and Paul (Bell and Platt, respectively), it’s a bit of a begrudging attendance. As Paul snipes — while apparently standing next to a woman hanging out in an actual garbage can — “Eloise is our half-sister, which means that we can half-ass the relationship.”

Why is the relationship so strained? Well, according to Alice, Eloise is wealthy, and chose to make her life in London. The wedding, it seems, is an effort by Eloise to reunite the family. You can watch the full trailer for “The People We Hate at the Wedding” in the video above.

Naturally, only chaos ensues. Alice gets drunk, Paul punches out a man and it’s unclear what Janney does — beyond tell perfect strangers that her son is gay in an effort to prove that she supports him — but somehow, she ends up right alongside her kids in jail by the end of the footage. And no, the cop informs them, Eloise will not be bailing them out.

Based on the book by Grant Ginder, “The People We Hate at the Wedding” also stars Dustin MIlligan, Isaach De Bankolé, Karan Soni, Tony Goldwyn and more. The film is written by Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, Wendy Molyneux.

The movie also reunites Bell with director Claire Scanlon, who also directed on “The Good Place.”

“The People We Hate at the Wedding” will be streaming on Prime Video on Nov. 18.
