Jedediah Bila returned to “The View” on Tuesday, but her time didn’t last long, as she and her former co-hosts got into it over vaccine mandates. In the end, the interview was abruptly cut off by the hosts.
Bila was technically on the show to promote her new book but, wanting to address “the elephant in the room,” Joy Behar noted that the author and former “Fox & Friends” anchor was supposed to join the show in studio “weeks ago,” and couldn’t because she is unvaccinated and ABC requires everyone in the building to be vaccinated.
Behar then asked bluntly exactly why that is, considering the copious amounts of information from the CDC that indicates the vaccine is both safe and helpful.
Bila noted that she has a medical exemption that makes the vaccine a risk to her, which was “co-signed by three other doctors” in addition to her infectious disease specialist in New York City. “I also have sky high, multitiered, multifaceted natural immunity, very very high, that has also been proven,” Bila argued.
Bila then asserted that she’s not anti-vax, she just thinks people should talk to their own doctors and make the decision for themselves. Bila did note though that she opposes vaccine mandates.
“Let’s look at the science, this is a vaccine that was created to prevent severity of disease and to prevent hospitalizations. Now we can have a whole debate on that in and of itself, but the vaccine does not prevent you from getting COVID. It does not prevent you from transmitting COVID.”
At that, Behar scoffed, and told Bila “You’ve been at Fox TV too long.” Host Sunny Hostin also got visibly upset, seemingly trying to cut the interview off then and there.
Speaking over Bila, Hostin reminded her of the COVID death toll, arguing “We’ve had the United States surgeon general debunk everything that you’ve just said, and I just don’t think we should allow this kind of misinformation on our air. I’m really sorry, my friend.”
Bila made her best efforts to reassert her arguments, but Hostin would not let up, prompting Whoopi Goldberg to cut the interview off entirely so they could go to commercial break. You can watch the exchange on “The View” in the video above.
