Michelle Yeoh and Pete Davidson have joined the voice cast of “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” voicing two of the robots in disguise for the new film.
Director Steven Caple Jr. posted a pair of videos to his Instagram Tuesday of both Davidson and Yeoh in the studio. Davidson will voice the Transformer Mirage, and Yeoh will voice Air Razor. You can watch the clips below.
Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback are starring in the next Transformers movie, which is opening via Paramount on June 9, 2023.
“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is the first film in the franchise since 2018’s “Bumblebee,” which was something of a spinoff of the Michael Bay series and was more of a character-focused film centered around one human’s relationship with one of the Autobots. “Rise of the Beasts” will be set in the 1990s between the events of “Bumblebee” and the main film series started by Michael Bay in 2007. It will star Ramos and Fishback as a pair of archeologists who stumble into an ancient conflict between several factions of Transformers who transform into beasts instead of vehicles, with Optimus Prime and the Autobots soon entering the fray.
Ron Perlman will also star in the film as the voice of Optimus Primal, the leader of the Maximals.
Entertainment One, Hasbro’s entertainment studio, is executive producing “Transformers: Rise of the Beast,” and Skydance is co-financing and executive producing. New Republic Pictures is also co-financing and executive producing.
The film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian and Duncan Henderson.
The six “Transformers” films have grossed $4.84 billion worldwide since the franchise launched in 2007, but have seen grosses significantly decline in recent years with “Bumblebee” becoming the first installment to gross less than $500 million globally.
Michelle Yeoh is having a stellar year on the back of the indie hit “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” and she’ll soon be seen in the “Avatar” sequels and also this week joined the cast of “A Haunting in Venice,” the next Hercule Poirot film based on an Agatha Christie book and starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Pete Davidson this year left “Saturday Night Live” but has appeared in A24’s “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and the rom-com “Meet Cute.”
