How would the U.S. military actually fight a giant lizard monster like Godzilla — or his buddies Gamera, Mothra or Rodan?

You know you’ve wondered.

With the hotly anticipated “Godzilla” premiering May 16 — which is supposed to have a much more realistic storyline than the campy monster movies of old — the good folks at Air & Space magazine decided to ask.

The Smithsonian mag interviewed airmen at the Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, home to the Air Force’s largest combat wing — and most likely site of a Godzilla attack — to get an inside look at their super advanced counterassault strategy.

“I think Godzilla would be expecting an aerial attack,” Master Sgt. Jason Edwards said. “So to catch him off guard, I think we would need 4,000 Segways and slingshots.”
