N.W.A.’s founding members Ice Cube, Dr Dre, DJ Yella, MC Ren and the star’s of “Straight Outta Compton” were set to join members of the Compton community Tuesday at 1:30-2:30 p.m. PT, for a special livestream.
The event was to include discussions on the rise and fall of N.W.A., as well as topical and social issues explored in the film.
Also joining the conversation were director/producer F. Gary Gray, cast members O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell, along with moderator MC Lyte.
The Universal Pictures release traces the origins of N.W.A. (an acronym for Niggaz Wit Attitudes) — the gangsta rap group founded in Compton, California, in 1987.
The film premiered Monday at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, with Tom Arnold, Snoop Dogg, Gabrielle Union and former One Direction member Zayn Malik coming out to show their support.
“Straight Outta Compton” arrives in theaters on Friday, August 14.
