Amy Pascal has hired Ian Dalrymple, a former Scott Rudin Productions staffer, to head the New York office of her production outfit Pascal Pictures, TheWrap has learned.

Dalrymple, a development executive with films like “Aloha” and the forthcoming “Steve Jobs” on his resume, will open the East Coast shop and report to Pascal’s production head Rachel O’Connor.

“Rachel and I are thrilled to have Ian join our team. His taste is impeccable. His relationships are very strong and his ability to shine in both the film and literary worlds is a perfect combination for us as we continue to build our new company,” Pascal said in a statement.

Dalrymple’s emphasis will be on books, magazines and other literary fare for adaptation. Prior to Rudin he had stints at Fox 2000, Paramount and WME.

Pascal Pictures is operated through Sony Pictures Entertainment, for which Pascal served as Motion Picture Chairman until stepping down in February after the devastating studio hack.

The fledgling company already has an ambitious slate in the “Spider-Man” reboot, a take on “Little Women” with Sarah Polley and an untitled project based on Mattel’s Barbie doll to be scripted by Diablo Cody.
