Ed Sullivan Statue Stolen from Academy of Television Arts and Sciences

A statue of Ed Sullivan has been stolen from the Hall of Fame Plaza outside the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, in North Hollywood, Calif.  The solid bronze, 18-inch-tall statue was on display as part of an outdoor exhibit spotlighting pioneers and significant figures in television history.

The Los Angeles Police Department spoke out on Monday evening, asking the public for help in apprehending the individual or individuals responsible for the theft, which occurred a day earlier.

While no value has been attributed to the 20-pound statue, the LAPD nevertheless considers the crime grand theft. The statue was on display at the iconic building located at 5220 Lankershim Blvd.
