Shots were fired outside an unofficial pre-Grammy party attended by rappers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa Saturday night in Hollywood, leaving one person dead.

The victim was shot multiple times near the corner of North Las Palmas Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard around 11:40 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Nuria Vanegas told TheWrap.

“Officers in the area heard gunshots and found one male adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, officer Vanegas said.

The officers had been patrolling the area which is popular among tourists and clubgoers, when the violence unfolded.

Los Angeles television station KABC reported the victim was shot in the torso and the head. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

While the LAPD said it had no information as to who was inside the party, the Supperclub and famed DJ Mark Da Spot, who performed at the gathering, both tweeted that Snoop Dogg and fellow rapper Wiz Khalifa were among those inside the gathering.

DJ Mark Da Spot also posted a flyer for the event on his website saying it was a pre-Grammy Party.

However, a spokesperson for the awards show told TheWrap the event was not officially sanctioned by the Recording Academy.

Representatives for Snoop Dogg did not immediately return TheWrap’s request for comment.

But DJ Mark Da Spot issued a statement to TheWrap Sunday saying he was inside the club and unaware of what was happening outside. “Despite published media reports, DJ Mark Da Spot had no knowledge, involvement or incited the incident that occurred outside of The Supperclub in Los Angeles,” the statement said. “Mark would like to offer his condolences to the Family of the gentleman that lost his life”

A representative for DJ Mark Da Spot also told TheWrap that the performer is deeply involved in activities, awareness and movements that attempt to curb the violence that plagues the nightlife community.

Unfortunately, Saturday night’s incident wasn’t the first time there has been violence tied to an awards show in the Los Angeles-area.

In August, Suge Knight and two others were shot and injured at an unofficial MTV VMAs pre-party in West Hollywood hosted by R&B singer Chris Brown.

And in June, one person was killed and five others injured in shootings and stabbings at separate parties that were touted as BET Awards-related.

Below are the tweets describing this weekend’s pre-party at the Supperclub in Los Angeles.
