Gwyneth Paltrow ‘Psyched’ Over Martha Stewart’s Goop Criticism

Stewart previously said if Paltrow was “confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart”

Gwyneth Paltrow is “psyched” that Martha Stewart took the time to criticize her for her lifestyle website Goop.

“First of all, no one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I’m shocked and devastated,” Paltrow said sarcastically during an interview (above) with Fortune, and then added: “If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition. I really am.”

The comment — which Paltrow delivered with a laugh — comes nearly a month after Porter magazine published an interview with Stewart, who said the “Iron Man” star “just needs to be quiet.”

“She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart,” Stewart added.

Since the interview made headlines in September, Paltrow has only begun to act more like Stewart.

The entrepreneur announced on Monday that she hired Lisa Gersh, the former chief executive officer of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, to replace Seb Bishop as CEO of Goop, which will continue to grow whether Stewart likes it or not.

“I think that when anybody criticizes anyone, it really is revealing more about where they are in time and space, as opposed to where you are in time and space,” Paltrow said. “At this point in my life, I don’t take it personally, I see it as a projection.”
