There’s a “RocknRolla” reunion on the horizon, as the British actor is making a deal to play Bedivere
Elba is not circling the lead role of Arthur, but rather an older Knight named Bedivere, Arthur’s father’s right-hand man who takes it upon himself to train the young warrior for battle as he learns his true destiny.
Joby Harold wrote the script and will produce with his Safehouse Pictures partner Tory Tunnell, as well as Akiva Goldsman and Lionel Wigram.
Warner Bros. will release Ritchie’s medieval movie on July 22, 2016.
Elba next stars in the home invasion thriller “No Good Deed” and the Sean Penn action movie “The Gunman,” as well as Cary Fukunaga’s “Beasts of No Nation.” He’ll also voice Shere Khan in Disney’s “The Jungle Book.”
Elba, who won a Golden Globe several years ago for “Luther,” is represented by WME, Headshell Management and the Artists Partnership.
