Jon Stewart Casts His Vote for the Most Absurd Moments of Midterm Elections (Video)

Congratulations, Connecticut – your gubernatorial race is the winner

‘The Daily Show’ has had no shortage of viable comedy fodder during this year’s midterm elections, and the biggest laugh of all might have occurred on Sunday in Connecticut. Host Jon Stewart took a look back at all of the memorable moments from this year’s political races.

“It has been a very long and arduous campaign season,” Stewart said. “I’m feeling wistful.”

The late-night host recalled some of his personal favorites, including Sen. Mitch McConnell’s head-raising campaign ads, Iowa’s Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst telling voters about growing up on a farm castrating hogs, or Governor Charlie Crist’s “ball fan” that he demanded be under his podium during a debate with his challenger Rick Scott.

“But as of last night, there is an underdog in the race for ‘bat-shittest 2014 campaign moment,’” Stewart said.

Connecticut Democratic Governor Dannel P. Malloy and his Republican opponent Tom Foley were asked about the names of their boats during a debate on Sunday. Foley’s boat is called “Odalisque” which is the name of a Turkish sex slave.

Malloy has publicly stated that his opponent should change the name of his boat, saying, “the man has a daughter, my God, change the name of your boat.”

But Stewart took issue with the name Governor Malloy has for his own vessel – “Sapphire.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Stewart said. “Sapphire? You’ve named your boat after the single-most common stripper name?”

Polls on Tuesday showed Malloy and Foley in a dead heat as voters in Connecticut head to the polls.

“Whoever wins, I’m guessing Connecticut will be okay since everyone there seems to have a boat,” Stewart said.
