Never accuse Fox Business Channel’s Stuart Varney of backing down from a disagreement. As Jon Stewart noted on “The Daily Show” Thursday, the British journalist is presently at odds with none other than the Pope.
So is CNBC’s Lawrence Kudlow. Both business commentators disagree with Pope Francis’ call for an end to unchecked capitalism.
“Money must serve, not rule,” the pope said recently. “I exhort you to generous solidarity and to the return of economics and finance to an ethical approach which favors human beings.”
“I disagree with the pope, who doesn’t like free-market capitalism,” Varney said. Kudlow says that while he adores the pope, he, too, disagrees with his views.
If only we could get Jesus to weigh in one the debate.
Oh wait: He has.
