Laverne Cox Booked for Guest Role on Bravo’s ‘Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce’

The “Orange Is the New Black” actress will appear on the cable channel’s first scripted series

Bravo has cast actress and trans activist Laverne Cox in a guest spot on its first scripted series, “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.”

Cox will play Adele Northrop, a Pulitzer-Prize winning war journalist and LGBT activist who presents an award at a marriage equality gala.

Represented by Hartig Hilepo Agency, Cox plays trans prisoner/beautician Sophia on Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black.” She’s also appeared on “Bored to Death,” “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: SVU,” as well as in the independent films “Carla” and “The Exhibitionists.”

Cox will executive produce and host “Trans Teen: The Documentary” in the fall and and is planning a documentary titled “Free CeCe.”

“Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” stars Lisa Edelstein as Abby McCarthy, a self-help book author who hides the fact that she’s separated from her husband as she starts to navigate her life as a single woman in her early 40s.

The series comes from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” producer Marti Noxon and fellow executive producers Vicki Iovine, Meryl Poster, Liz Kruger, Robbie Duncan McNeil and Craig Shapiro.

“Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” will debut later this year.
