The global superstar brought the house down at The Forum with a 15-minute medley of her entire self-titled album, which included snippets from tracks like “Haunted,” “Partition” and “Rocket.” Several times during the performance MTV’s cameras cut away to her family and fellow nominees in the VIP section of the venue, with all of them grooving to her performance.

After her set, MTV honored Beyoncé with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Her husband Jay Z and their daughter Blue Ivy joined her onstage to accept the award. Beyoncé and Jay Z even shared a kiss at the end.
The “Flawless” singer was nominated for both Video of the Year and Best Female, too, but she lost out to Miley Cyrus (for “Wrecking Ball”) and Katy Perry (for “Dark Horse”), respectively.
