Meghan Markle’s next acting gig in “The Gentlemen” may have led to her family’s decision to jump back across the pond to the United Kingdom.
The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly offered a role in an upcoming project based in the U.K. Deadline first reported that the former “Suits” star has been in early talks to join Season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series.
“The Gentlemen” has not yet been renewed for a third season. (Its second season premieres next month Sept. 3.) While no details have been made clear around her role in an upcoming season, the Duchess is reportedly in early talks with the series creator to join the series in a meaningful part.
Netflix has not responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
“The Gentlemen” is created by Ritchie, who serves as writer alongside Matthew Read. Ritchie and Eran Creevy direct. The Netflix series stars Theo James as an American expat Mickey Pearson, who plans to sell his London-based marijuana empire for $400 million.
Markle has an existing relationship with Netflix. The Sussexes still have a first-look deal with the streamer. The streamer produced her cooking show “With Love, Meghan” and even invested in her brand As Ever.
Her culinary brand has since cut ties with the streamer, and her series “With Love, Meghan” Season 2 only logged 2 million views from its August release through December 2025, placing the culinary series low on the streamer’s viewership for the latter half of 2025.
Netflix still has a multi-year first-look deal with Archewell Productions, meaning Netflix gets first dibs on any TV or film projects from the company. The deal, announced last summer, seemed to be a scaled back investment from Netflix as the streamer now has the option to pass on projects from the Sussexes.
The Sussexes announced they would be relocating to the U.K. from California with their children earlier this week. This follows Prince Harry’s tense relationship with his family, most notably with his brother Prince William which he exposed in his memoir “Spare.”
The Sussexes will reportedly retain their Montecito, Calif., home, while Meghan’s business ventures — including As Ever, Archewell Productions and their charitable foundation, Archewell Philanthropies — will remain based in the U.S.
